Eye assessments are an essential part of keeping your eyes healthy and your vision clear. Our dedicated Envision team will guide you through all aspects of your appointment in a friendly and informative environment. During your comprehensive eye exam, your optometrist will not only be checking your eyesight to see if you need any vision correction but will also be looking for signs of developing eye disorders and conditions.
In most cases, we recommend an eye exam for our patients at least every two years. However, if you’re at higher risk for eye problems, we will likely recommend a yearly eye exam.
Your First Eye Exam at Envision Optical
When you visit us for your first eye exam, you can plan for it to last between half an hour and 45 minutes. Over the course of your appointment, we’ll perform several eye tests, including screening with our up-to-date technology, to gauge the health of your eyes and your level of vision.
You can expect:
- A discussion of your optical needs, overall physical health and medical history
- An evaluation for common eye disorders, including glaucoma, cataract, lazy eye, macular degeneration, keratoconus, and other issues
- Several pre-tests with the latest assessment technology
We’ll also discuss any problems you may have with itchy or dry eyes, headaches or other issues that may be eye or vision related.
At some point during this consultation, your optometrist will perform your vision assessment. 
During a vision assessment, we may check:
- Your ability to focus
- For colour vision
- Your eye muscle control
- For blurry or double vision
- For vision clarity
- For light sensitivity
If we notice any present or developing vision problems during your exam, we will discuss the findings with you and any potential treatment options we can use to correct or manage the problem.
